'Sri Lanka offers a humility that is closely related to its landscape, Hindu and Buddhist values. The respect and interconnectedness these placid ancient earth people have with spirituality and the land manifests in the physical in a beauty and grace sublime, inspires my work. Art becomes a healing and transcendental process that deals with the underlying foundations that keep this holy place, its sacred sites and cultural customs alive.'

'Working as an artist on site at Sacred Sites in India creating a series of Public Art works, painting or drawing has always provided communion, entertainment, learning and a myriad of textural, audible and visual sensations unfathomable on all levels. India is a country of tremendous diversity, unity and home of one of the world’s greatest and oldest civilizations. Birthplace of the world’s great religions – Hinduism and Buddhism, the whole of existence here centers on the daily reverence of Deities, Sacred Sites and ornate Temples. This remarkable mother land offers the richest and most intriguing experiences concerning living spirituality and practicing customs, respect for land, thriving cultures and venerated myths, greatly shaping everything about my being and Art.'

'Some of the oldest cave wall sculptures, carvings and paintings in India can be found still in superb condition and have been venerated daily for thousands of years. It is difficult to tell where architecture and sculpture begins and the landscape and its people end. Art is everywhere, it is life. It is this integration, intricacy and profusion of artistic creativity and production that astounds me and not a stone has escaped ornamentation. Relief work, embossing, carving and sculpting have deeply influenced my approach to painting, lately impregnating the work with a highly textural quality.' Tania Summerell

Tania was invited to add to the collection of traditional Rajasthani Mural Art in Jodhpur’s Yogi’s Hotel, a Mural in the Jaisalmer Roof Top Restaurant and was later invited to paint the late Deewan Shri Acharya Ishar-Prime Minister of Jaisalmer in India’s Ishar Palace. A beautiful series of Public Art Works were created and documented at various Sacred Sites.
