Fossil Exhibition
Living Fossil

The site specific environmental installation 'Living Fossils' at the Regional Public Library concentrated on increasing awareness of the regionally significant endangered species Petalura gigantea giant dragonfly. This ancient tenacious creature predates dinosaurs, can withstand millions of years of climatic changes, heat and ice ages, however, not our present ecological problems. The public were invited to discuss the environment and installation comprised of mixed media sculptures, drawings and projection art and was a huge success.


Bharat Anahata

Invited to exhibit at the Nimbin Regional Gallery, the 'Bharat Anahata' Exhibition of Paintings by Tania Summerell and Photographs by Graeme Batterbury opened as a huge success with over hundred people attending the opening. 'Bharat Anahata' explores and portrays the inner world of humanity, spirituality and India’s contribution to human consciousness, a journey from the heart. A captivating traditional Indian Dance by Gopali and sublime traditional Indian music by Anahata left all in awe.


Divine Exhibition
Divine Origins

The solo Exhibition 'Divine Origins' opened at Murwillumbah's Fine Art Centre - Escape Gallery, with over 200 people gathering to enjoy the earthy narrative works on paper and colourfully vibrant and textural mixed media works on canvas. The Art honoured cultures from Australia, India, Tibet and Ireland and was integrated with and activated through Dance, Song, Word and Music in a stunning multi-cultural Exposé with Traditional Australian, Indian and Celtic performances. Ngundawal man, Desmond Currie gave a gentle welcome to country with Bundjalung Elder John Roberts discussing traditional Art, practice and dance.

Invited to exhibit 'The Blossoming' as part of Tweed Shire Arts Cultural Program at the Tweed Shire City of the Arts Space, supported by Tweed Council, NSW Ministry Arts, The Weekly and Print Spot. Bundjalung Elder John Roberts gave a heartfelt Welcome to Country and thanked Tania's service to the Arts and Community. Lesley Buckley TSC Cultural Development Officer officially opened the Exhibition. Over 200 people were captivated by the unique Fine Art and cultural performances by Indigenous Dance group, Traditional Indian and inspired Tribal Sword dances, singing and live world music arranged by the artist, assisting ‘to bring the Art, its symbology and meaning to life.'

The Goddess Gathering

The solo exhibition 'Goddess Gathering' opened at the Wet Paint Gallery with enormous appreciation by locals and visitors. A large cohesive body of works illustrating a continuous dedication towards healing and the sacred feminine displayed the immense creativity and diversity of this inspiring and prolific artist. The opening conjuncted with a Women’s Luncheon, Music, Experiential Art Therapy Workshop and Open Mic day welcoming women to speak, share stories and poetry with a focus on sharing, education and celebration of the feminine. Many enjoyed Guest speaker Justine Elliot MP discussing women’s issues, music by 6 piece Brisbane women’s band Bertha Control and musical poetry by Montage.


Speed on Tweed
Speed On Tweed

An enthusiastic unveiling to the public of a series of paintings by Tania Summerell at the Imperial Hotel to celebrate Australia’s premier historic car event - Speed On Tweed. The Imperial Hotel intends to exhibit the works each year as a highlight, generating interest towards the Festival. The bold and stunningly, powerful contemporary graphic works are complete with black and white chequered flags, synonymous with racing and a symbol for Speed on Tweed. The owner said ‘the paintings are exciting, individual and capture action in still. The professional precision, meticulous nature and execution of these works displays Tania’s talents and versatility.'
